Podcast advertising statistics
9. US podcast advertising revenue reached $2.9 billion in 2025
The IAB/PwC Internet Advertising Revenue Report, released April 16, 2026, puts US podcast advertising revenue at $2.9 billion in 2025, up 17.6% year over year. That growth outpaced total digital advertising (up 13.9%), although podcasts remain a small slice of the $294.6 billion digital ad market.
10. Creator advertising, including podcast sponsorships, reached $37 billion
The same IAB/PwC report estimates creator advertising spend at $37 billion in 2025. Host-read podcast sponsorships are part of that wider creator economy, where brands pay trusted personalities to speak to their audiences rather than buying traditional ad slots.
What do these podcast statistics mean for brands?
Podcasts now reach a majority of Americans every month, across every age group, and increasingly as video. For brands, that creates two options: sponsor existing shows, where host-read ads benefit from listener trust, or launch a branded show that builds an owned audience over time.
If you sponsor shows, judge them by audience fit and engagement rather than download counts alone, and use unique offer codes or landing pages to measure results. If you launch your own podcast, plan for video from day one, since YouTube and Spotify both support video episodes, and commit to a consistent schedule; most of the value comes from regular listeners, not one-off spikes.
A podcast needs a name that is easy to say, search and remember. Try the podcast name generator, then check that the matching handle is free on YouTube, Spotify, Instagram and TikTok with the namechk username checker. For more audience data, see our YouTube statistics.
How we compiled these statistics
Audience figures come from Edison Research’s Infinite Dial 2026 (a national survey of Americans aged 12 and older fielded in January 2026), as reported by Talkers and Tubefilter, because Edison’s own report page could not be accessed. Platform figures come from YouTube, Alphabet and Spotify, and advertising figures from the IAB/PwC Internet Advertising Revenue Report. All data is as of October 2026; older statistics were removed.
